UNITED sTATES MARINE CORPS

Introduction

This case study is structured differently for a reason. As Associate Director of Experience, my work spans systems, teams, and products. A single feature breakdown wouldn’t reflect the scale or complexity of the role, or the thirty small fires that need to be addressed before most people log in.

I lead the experience across the entire enterprise suite, own product strategy and design for all rebuilds and enhancements, and serve as product owner for each application.

My day-to-day involves reducing friction for my direct report while enabling the designers who report to me to work more independently and with more clarity.

Existing website created a unified message for prospective customers but needed to be rethought as products expanded.

Focusing on use cases, identifying which KPI's were valuable to track and iterating the messaging based on new data coming in allowed us to target the right customers and ensure we told them what Swap does and why they succeed.

Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful.
